Gaming is an industry of constant change, and manufacturers are always competing to release the next big thing. Leading the charge is the Xbox Kinect which promises to provide us with great gaming free of controllers. So is this innovation truly the future?

Xbox has come out with a stable of good games for their new toy. Generally they are all quite entertaining and well executed. The majority of the games involve dancing, exercise or other major physical movements that the sensors can easily pick up and interpret. They all work well and the tracking system is very accurate, incredibly so. The Kinect is great for these kinds of games and multi-person casual gaming.

But what about more complex games? Xbox has not yet shown that the system can handle first person shooters which require more complex controls. In the meantime it is a fun tool, but not quite a replacement for the controller. In the coming years, Xbox will no doubt try to extend its capabilities – we can only hope the results don’t end up looking like this video.

Activision is cautious about the future sales of Black Ops. In the financial results of the company for 3Q 2010, it says the Call of Duty: Black Ops would sell less than Modern Warfare 2. It says that the bar is set very high.

First reason is that a historic competitor for Activision has arrived in the market. It’s Medal of Honor from the house of Electronic Arts (EA). More to this, Activision seems of adopting a cautious position by revealing that the scores of Black Ops is going to be worse than the scores of MW2 in 2009.

Well, apart from all these, CEO of Activision Bobby Kotick said in August that the company would be investing a lot in the launching of Call of Duty: Black Ops that has not been seen earlier. Recently, the company also suggested that the Black Ops pre-orders outstripped MW2.

Talking in brief, Activision does not seems of giving an impression that it has a firm believe on the new CoD effect.

Minnesota Vikings and Quarterback Brett Favre unleashed the trailer of Call of Duty: Black Ops on broadcast of this week’s Monday Night Football on ESPN. If anyone of you have missed the trailer, here it is once again:

In the pre-orders, Black Ops is still ahead of Modern Warfare 2, said GameStop. Gamelnformer.com reports that Black Ops is just on the track of making a record that MW2 did, over billion dollars sales within three months.

Senior vice president of merchandising for GameStop Bob McKenzie said, “GameStop is tracking to all-time, record reservations on Call of Duty: Black Ops… We are ahead of where we were with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 last year, which previously set the industry standard.”

Call of Duty: Black Ops is getting released this year on November 9.

Halo: Reach, within 24 hours of its release, had a sales of more than 200 million dollars. Modern Warfare 2 made little more than 401 million dollars in its first week of launching in November 2009 and became the biggest entertainment release in the year. The high run of Halo: Reach may touch the Modern Warfare 2 sales mark.

Before the release of Halo: Reach, the demo version was made available to all those who owned Halo3: ODST and since then the game was one of the most awaited game.

Bungie, the developer of Halo series said that this is their last game with the franchise. Well, it is still not clear whether any other developer will be coming forward in taking the series ahead. Glen said when asked why he has endeavored for such a noble pursuit, “I’ve already hit Prestige five times. I thought it would be something interesting to do. It definitely gives you a different perspective on the game, and it’s fun and challenging.”

May be McCracken followed a Gandhi-like stance.

McCracken became a hit in Domination and Demolition modes. His only goal in it was to earn experience points by only securing flags and blowing objectives.

According to McCracken, he may take about two months to reach the target level. Currently he is at eleventh level without any kill.

Recently a glitch was discovered in Modern Warfare 2 and this was frustrating too for the Xbox Live developers.

How it works?

Twelve thousand gamers were banned by accident from playing Modern Warfare 2 via the anti-cheat system. This was done by Valve through its online gaming platform. Steam determined that many gamers were cheating the company. However, after investigation there were no evidence found of such activities.

Now, the company has lifted the ban and has also apologized for the mix up.

Valve head honcho, Gabe Newell, explained the issue in his apology. He said, “The problem was that Steam would fail a signature check between the disk version of a DLL and a latent memory version.

This was caused by a combination of conditions occurring while Steam was updating the disk image of a game. This wasn’t a game-specific mistake. Steam allows us to manage and reverse these erroneous bans (about 12,000 erroneous bans over two weeks.”

To make up the mistake, the company is handing out Left 4 Dead 2 for free to all those MW2 gamers whe were inadvertently banned.

Well, it is still bad for those gamers who own Modern Warfare 2 as well as Left 4 Dead 2.

It has been over a month the Resurgence Pack of Modern Warfare 2 has been out in the market, but gamers are still wondering whether to buy it or not. This small review will help those gamers, who are confused, to make up their minds wheter to go ahead and buy it or not.

Vacant & Strike:

Vacant and Strike are basically the re-makes of Call of Duty 4. Both have been improved with lighting effects, morning sun in Vacant and beaming light in Strike. Moreover, amount of objects in Strike have been multiplied such as litter, chunks of concrete etc.

In Vacant the grassy areas have been improved. Flowers growing from the ground is also seen in it.

Fuel

This map is packed with big, white oil tanks also destroyed lorries and cars and most of them are on fire. It is little complicated map. So, gamers really need to concentrate on it.

Trailer Park

This map has twists and turns everywhere and it requires a team work to win. It is most defiantly a confusing map, but it is great to keep players thinking on every turn they make.

Carnival

It is exactly a carnival, which has everything such as merry-go-rounds, roller-coaster track etc. It is a detailed map and is pretty simple. It is in fact a long vertical line with number of obstacles. The colors, the rides, graffiti and everything in this map is adorable.
