HE month of December last year witness as the best sales month yet for video games. The top seller of the season, Modern Warfare 2, reached a sale figure of $1 billion. Not to forget that the game was released on November 10.

Compared to the December of 2008, the game console sales rose 4 percent. According to the data revealed, Nintendo dominated console sales by selling 3.81 million Wiis and 3.31 million DSes. In the PlayStation 3 it was sold just 1.36 million units and the Xbox 360 is at 1.31 million.
Within five days of its launch, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 moved 2.75 million copies on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. When this figure is assuming then the sales of Modern Warfare 2 didn’t make up the difference.
The best part of all these to know is that the gaming industry didn’t fare as well overall in 2009 as it did in 2008. Experts say that the recession period may also have made things a little rough in 2009. It is understood that the gamers are feeling more confident.
Electronic Arts (EA) been throwing punches at Modern Warfare 2 for sometime claiming that the new Battlefield: Bad Company from the DICE studio would have dedicated servers for the PC gamers. It will be valuing the importance of PC gameplay and also customization of it.

Jens Uwe, headmaster of the European division of EA, said in an interview on Friday, “In March we will launch Battlefield: Bad Company 2, which is our first strong attack on Call Of Duty… The shooter space is one we don’t want to give up. It’s an important genre and we were the number one. So we are certainly working on how we can get that crown back and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is an important product in that context.”
One who has played first Bad Company as well as the Modern Warfare titles may be knowing well that the games are very different in style and also in gunplay. We may also have found out that DICE is on the way of making some changes in it such as making the enemies more easier to kill to fall in line.
