Activision telling the hack makers to stop or else

Posted by admin On December - 19 - 2008

Word is, Activision has told the hackers and the websites that make hacks for CoD4 and CoD5 to cut it out or face a law suit. You may have noticed lots of Call of Duty hacks have been disappearing form the various hacking sites. Hell, even a big chunk of COD hacking videos have been dropping off youtube.

Looks like Blizzard has told Activision to pull their head from their asses and stop the hackers. Maybe by the time COD6 is released we can have a hack-free enviorment? I won’t hold my breath.

What are some of the features you would like to see IW keep?

Posted by admin On December - 11 - 2008

Most people can see by looking at COD4 and COD5 that IW is clearly the superior game developer. The question is, even though Treyarch is a bad developer, are there any features from Call of Duty 5 that you’d like to see brought back in Call of Duty 6?

I would definetly like to see the prestige mode come back only with better rewards for completing a prestige than just a new custom class. Perhaps some cool gun skins or something. Also, I was playing on a server last night that gave 4000pts per kill. So everytime you scored a kill, your rank went up by atleast 1. Obviously this totally ruins the whole idea behind prestige mode because it makes your rank basically worthless. Nobody knows who really spend the time to earn their rank and who just went to a fast rank server. For that reason I have decided to remain at lvl 65 with 0 prestige. I mean, what’s the point?

Another thing I like about Call of Duty 5 that I’d like to see brought back for COD6 is the lack of nade spam. I’m sure you’ve noticed that the nades in COD6 do much less damage and have a smaller blast area. This makes for a much more enjoyable game in my opinion.

I’ll post more of my thoughts soon. What are your thoughts?

Activision Publishing CEO Mike Griffith today confirmed that Call of Duty creator Infinity Ward, which most recently handled Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, will return to the franchise next year with Call of Duty 6.”In 2009, we expect Infinity Ward to deliver another [entry of] ground-breaking quality, Call of Duty 6,” Griffith stated at today’s Activision Blizzard Analyst Day. Earlier this year, the CEO revealed that a new Call of Duty game would arrive in 2009, but did not offer any other details at the time.

Confusingly, Griffith’s presentation today seemed to date CoD 6 for 2010 as well. After discussing Treyarch’s Call of Duty: World at War, which he referred to as Call of Duty 5, the CEO said that “for calendar year 2010, Infinity Ward is already at work on the next installment in the franchise.”

Following publisher Activision’s “leapfrog strategy” of alternating developers, Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty 6 will follow up Treyarch’s Call of Duty: World at War, which launches on November 5 for PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PS2, and Wii. Treyarch had also developed Call of Duty 3 as a part of that strategy.

Call of Duty 6 Confirmed!

Posted by admin On December - 9 - 2008

Activision has named practically its entire 2009 line-up at an in-game advertiser meeting, including Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

Speaking at an ‘upfront’ meeting with in-game ad company Massive Inc. (responsible for the famous Obama Burnout Paradise ad), Activision named its 2009 games including tentatively titled Guitar Hero 5, a new Tony Hawk’s and Modern Warfare 2.

The sixth CoD game was already confirmed to be under Infinity Ward’s wing (and not World at War dev Treyarch), but this news thankfully confirms that number six isn’t the rumored sci-fi spin-off we were dreading.

No details on the game were released, though it was roughly dated for release in autumn 2009.

In the meeting, Activision also confirmed that in the new Tony Hawk’s “you’re not going to be playing this game with a controller in your hands.” It’s out on PS3, 360, Wii and DS in October. We smell a peripheral coming…

Bizarrely (ho ho), the publisher also confirmed PGR dev Bizarre Creations’ first Activision racer will be a James Bond game. In fact it’ll be an original racing game that’s been described as “Mario Kart meets Forza”. Read more on that here.

We spoke to Activision this afternoon but unfortunately the company wasn’t able to provide any further details about the new games. Don’t hold your breath either, as it seems unlikely there’ll be anything more on them until early next year, but don’t let that stop you speculating in the meantime.

What kind of weapons do you think will be in COD6?

Posted by admin On December - 9 - 2008

Do you think they will have the same guns as they did in COD4? I assume they will have to have some of the same guns, how can you not have the AK47 and M4/M16. I suspect some of the less traditional guns like the P90 could possibly be replaced with some new non-main stream type guns which would be fine with me. Don’t get me wrong, the P90 is a great gun but change is always nice.

One of the few things Treyarch did correctly, and I do mean “few”, is they made it take much longer to rank up plus they added 65 levels instead of 55. And of course the prestige. So on COD4 you only had 55 levels while on COD5, if you count the prestiges, there are 650 levels! Except the reward for completing a prestige is crap, they should ahve offered some gold skins AND custom slot for each prestige at least.

Holy crap, COD6 has been announced!

Yep, Call of Duty 6 has been announced and Infinity Ward is the one that’s going to be developing it. So no more suck from Treyarch! This is very exciting!

This October comes the challenge of Modern Warfare and Battlefield: Bad Company. Medal of Honor of Electronic Arts is being released on October 12 and it will challenge both the games for the top spot in the FPS genre.

Last week at E3 gaming event the stills and multi-player footage were released. The footage bound to bring comparison with the MW2 and BBC2.

The styles of the game is similar to the MW2 and BBC2, but MoH appears to concentrate on points and not focus on kills as MW2 does.

Below is the footage of Medal of Honor:
