Let’s hope COD6 become the best selling

Posted by herald On May - 31 - 2009

Thomas Tippl, the CFO of Activision earlier said to the media that COD6 will not only raise the bar, but it is also going to be the best selling video game of all time in the industry. Let us hope so. And why not. The full length trailer that has been released recently says that it is going to be one of the best in the industry.

The developer has done much to create hype. First it was teaser. Then full length trailer and more to this on the final match of Champions League.

Well! Every thing is fine till now. Lots of craze is there among the gamers for Modern Warfare 2. Let us hope that November 10 may be the best day in the history of gaming industry. Let us also hope that it becomes the best selling video game ever. Hope it may sell more than 41.65 million, which is the amount of Wii Sports games that have been sold worldwide to date.

The original one i.e. Modern Warfare, set the bar for the shooter genre. All fans expects the same from Modern Warfare 2. At least judging by the full length trailer we can say that.

MW2 is awesome says readers

Posted by herald On May - 30 - 2009

“I love MW2” says one of the gamers after the release of the first full length trailer of the game. One more fan of the game says, “suhhhhhweeeeeeeeeet.” Not to forget this expression for Modern Warfare 2 – “Awesomeeeeeeeee , can’t wait .” “Looking Nice” and “Looking Good” are the general reactions of readers on this website.

“Most of the stuff looks better like the snowbobiles and the snow etc. But the graphics I have to say don’t seem great!” Ah! Lots of reactions and lots of expectations from our readers. Hope Infinity Ward listen to them all.

Let us check out what exactly the gamers wants from Modern Warfare 2 when it is released on November 10 this year.

One of the fans said, “They said it would be diffirent then Call of Duty 4, and yes to me it does look more like GTA this time around. For me, I just want an updated cod4, they should release this game and I could wait atleast 3-4 years for another one as long as they keep releasing quality DLC. Developers should realize that DLC is becoming a large part of video games.”

Upon several complaints about the graphics one of our readers says, “What I don’t get is why everyone is saying worse graphics. The graphics are amazing (it must be diffirent monitors). And if you don’t like them, then plug your Xbox up to an HDMI TV and have your mind blown. Yes, have your mind blown all over your face.”

Posted by herald On May - 27 - 2009

Modern Warfare 2 may not hit retail counters for another 6 months, but Activision is kick-starting the UK hype for the game today. There will be a premiere of the game during tonight’s Champions League final match going to be played between Manchester United and Barcelona.

The developer Infinity Ward and Activision has finely guarded many of the secrets about the release of MW2. They are only drip feeding trailers to all the fans of the game and also to the gaming industry.

The very first hints of the title of the game were given in March this year at GDC with a recent follow-up trailer debuting earlier in May.
Today’s promotion at the Champions League final is the single most prominent single ad spot that has been ever dedicated to a video game debut in the United Kingdom.

David Tyler, the UK marketing director for Activision said, “Premiering the new Modern Warfare 2 trailer during such a high profile event presents a great opportunity to reach Infinity Ward’s fans and gamers throughout the UK.”

First full length trailer released

Posted by herald On May - 25 - 2009

As it was promised by Infinity Ward, the developer, to release the trailer of Modern Warfare 2 on Sunday, they did so. It is over two minutes video that was aired during the NBA Eastern Conference finals on Sunday. It has impressive-looking environments and has covered all – land, air and sea. The trailer also shows some gruesome knifings, which appeared to be an assault on a castle. In short, the trailer was just fantastic.

Earlier, twice, whatever we had been seeing was just a tease. In fact the first trailer of MW2 practically showed nothing. The second one of course some what confirmed that the US/European special forces vs. rogue Russians storyline of the game has been carried on from the original Modern Warfare.

Sunday’s full length trailer even shows much more of the snowmobile sections. Of course it was hinted at in the previous trailer. The new one also includes a wicked looking takedown of someone gunning at full acceleration on a snowmobile.

Below is the full length trailer of MW2. It is of two minutes and ends with an attack on what looks like a European castle.

Full length trailer set to hit

Posted by herald On May - 24 - 2009

Few hours from now and all the fans of Modern Warfare 2 will get to see the full length trailer of the game on TNT TV channel. Gamers keep great expectations from MW2. Before the trailer is released, just let us check out few expectations of gamers.

Twenty days before we carried an article Gamers want more of weapons in CoD6. Lots of comments poured in suggesting many useful features to be there in the game before it is finally released in November this year. Hope someone from the MW2 studio may read the comments and suggestions of gamers.

Here are few of the most common of those comments:

• More weapons would be great. Sick of installing add-ons and mods to use different weapons after a few weeks of gameplay.
• Yes, Do not put tanks in it they are nooby, although they are modern dont put them in, and also keep the same system like kill streaks, 3,5,7.
• Tanks should be there and have boat battles or get to fly a helicopter in the game I would buy that.
• There should be random zombie outbreaks at a rate of 1-100 on each multiplayer map.
• I would like to see the HK 416 and 417, the barrett M468, the magpul masada, and the Beowulf 50.

No respawn of enemies in COD6

Posted by herald On May - 21 - 2009

In COD6 there will be constantly respawn of enemies. Good. Right? Now fighting will become much easier than all the previous versions of Call of Duty games.

call-of-duty-modern-warfare-2-revealed-1

Earlier we have seen in all the COD games that a constant stream of enemies spawned and attacked. All the COD fans had mixed reactions to this feature of the game.

This feature also keeps the fight frantic and forces gamers to constantly be on the offensive. One thing to notice here that having enemies after enemies spilling out of a little hut is very artificial.
To one of the leading gaming magazines the CCO of Infinity Ward, Jason West said, “We are aware of it and we’re actively trying to eliminate it.” He also added further that he and his team agree that this feature is not very good.

Earlier, many a time it has been said that Modern Warfare 2 will not be like its predecessor Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Moreover, it was also heard that it will not bear the Call of Duty name. Now, if the spawn system is eliminated from the game then it seems like it will distance Modern Warfare 2 from other COD series.

First footage of MW2

Posted by herald On May - 20 - 2009

Recently the first gameplay footage of the CoD6 was aired by TNT. This short footage video of the game will surely leave all gamers demanding more but it includes enough of tidbits to keep their mind busy for days. Check out the following few things that can be seen in the video footage of the game:

The extent of vehicles involvement in the game remains to be seen but it does show a first-person view on a snowmobile.

There is the gunship returns. AC-130 gunship looks to be making another cameo. Moreover, if we follow the footage properly, we will see one scene on a snowy airfield that shows a character being hip-tossed and thrown to the ground.

The short footage of the game also gives a hint of the ability to swim, at least in one mission that makes us think getting from Point-A to Point-B might not be as linear as the original Modern Warfare.

Here is the first footage video of Modern Warefare 2. Do comment if you see something else that has been overlooked in this article. Yeah… one more good news to all gamers. The second gameplay trailer of MW2 will be aired on May 24th during the Eastern Conference Finals.

Recent news of MW2 comes that it will be featuring wide open gameplay having lots of variety. Jason West, President of Infinity Ward, says this. The news was published in an extensive ten-page feature in the Game Informer, a US magazine. The article reveals more key details about the hotly-anticipated Modern Warfare 2.

It reveals that the plot of the game is set to a backdrop of a continued Russian Federation instability. It also reveals that the game will take gamers flung from Siberia to Afghanistan and even through the slums of Rio De Janeiro.

These are the expectations of CoD6: chases on snowmobiles, a single-player experience and yes, it takes longer to complete than the original one. Now the developer is also actively trying to eliminate the endless respawning enemies that caused problems for sneakier players in the original MW. There are also movable turrets, riot shields, customisable weapons, and yes, more acrobatic player movements (one can swim and climb ice ledges), and also a fully separate co-op mode that features its own levels.

Sergeant John “Soap” MacTavish returns in CoD6

After the video teaser of MW2 now there is some more information in the latest issue of Game Informer, one of the top gaming magazines. It offers some new details in its June issue.

For Modern Warfare Fans there is a good news. At least all the fans will be happy to know that its major character, Sergeant John “Soap” MacTavish, returns as the captain of an international group that is addressed as Task Force 141. But yes, this time he will be an NPC.

The gaming magazine Game Informer also mentions in the latest edition that the sequel continues the narrative that was begun in Modern Warfare, with the world facing dangerous political instability in Russia. In MW2, a terrorist group aims of using political turmoil of Russia to their advantage in order to secure the troubled empire’s weapon stockpiles.

Makarov, another character who is the leader of the terrorist group even happens to be an associate of Zakhaev. Zakhaev is the man who is responsible for the first games’ nuclear attack.

This October comes the challenge of Modern Warfare and Battlefield: Bad Company. Medal of Honor of Electronic Arts is being released on October 12 and it will challenge both the games for the top spot in the FPS genre.

Last week at E3 gaming event the stills and multi-player footage were released. The footage bound to bring comparison with the MW2 and BBC2.

The styles of the game is similar to the MW2 and BBC2, but MoH appears to concentrate on points and not focus on kills as MW2 does.

Below is the footage of Medal of Honor:
