What do you think about the “playing dead” and “monkey” perk ideas for Modern Warfare 2?
I recently got a comment either here, or maybe it was at cod6.org, and the person was basically saying they should make a perk on Modern Warfare 2 that allows a player to “play dead”. Now before I go on let me just say I don’t think IW will never make this happen for various reasons. That being said, out of all the ideas for perks that I’ve heard for Modern Warfare 2 that IW will never implement, this “playing dead” is my second favorite after the “monkey” perk which would allow players to climb trees. Both the “monkey” perk and the playing dead perk are ideas that the community came up with. I actually saw people talking about the playing dead perk while WaW was in development.
I always look at things on how they would effect S&D games because that’s basically the only game mode I play. I think a play dead perk would actually be pretty awesome for S&D. Think about if you were the last player alive on your team and you go to the bomb and play dead with the other dead bodies, when they come to plant or difuse, BAM.
So how do you feel about this perk? How about the tree climbing perk, that would come in really handy for snipers.
Also, before I end this post, I’d love to see more destructable parts of the map like they have in Battlefield Bad Company only minus the tanks. Let’s say you call and air strike on some little house, I feel like the house shouldn’t be able to withstand 3 bombs being dropped on it…it’s just not realistic.

yea play dead sounds really good but they should make a perk that detects it.i would also like the destruction of buildings because for airstrike

i think that sounds pretty cool but i think it would be like juggernaut everyone would hate you!
the monkey perk might fail if there was no trees on the map- think maps like ’shipment’ and ‘killhouse’

I like the ideas….but some are a little much. I don’t think playing dead would be that cool. For example:if you play dead right in someones dead body? WTF? I think the monkey perk would be good like you could also climb walls. I play cod5 intesnely and all of the 3 perks are so gay! Make good ones! PLEASE

U should take off the Kill cam because it gives away your spot like for example when u are sniping. it gives away your hideing spot

monkey sounds awesome:
only thing would be, if you have a silenced sniper and uav jammer, should you be allowed to use the monkey perk? that would be so dominant…
regarding play dead:
i think everyone should be able to play dead, perk or not…it’s realistic that people should be able to do that.
perhaps by holding (change weapon) while in prone, your player will sprawl out like he’s dead, lose the weapon, and remain still until you tap (change weapon) again. the player will only be able to look straight upwards, but will be able to use his ears to identify footsteps, claymore planting, c4 throwing, bomb planting (in s/d and sabotage) or anything else one might hear.
If, however, play dead is a perk, then it should only make the play dead feature better:
perhaps the player can look around and watch for bad guys with the perk, or gets more sensitive hearing, or something else beneficial.
i just think playing dead should be a thing that, realistically, everyone should be able to do.
**for this case, IW needs to take off the “put-your-crosshairs-on-the-bad-guy-and-see-his-name-in-big-red-letters” feature**

vietnam would be kickass. especially the story mode cuz of all the guerilla warfare. that’d add more of a stealthy thing to the game, which would be awesome

i think that they both sound great but there would have to definitely be some way to tell if someone is playing dead and you would also have to be covered in the trees but not invisible but thy both sound great and a Vietnam game would be great too

I think destruction of buildings wouldn’t work for Cod, because to regain health you need to hide or escape fire. With bad company you regain your health by injecting yourself.

Playing dead:
very realistic grantid most would argue thats not fair or whatever but then there should be a perk that allows you to sense those playing dead like heat vision where all the dead bodies are cold and the ones playing dead are red.
Monkey:
This perk would be awsome for the new game however i’d rather not have it climb trees but climb buildings like grapple hook or something like battlefield 2 special forces. this would kick ass for snipers getting to their positions.
As for what Tim Squires and Peter said about the next cod being set in vietnam. I would strongly disagree there are plenty of shooter games set in pre-modern warfare times another one would be redundant.

i vote to take juggernaut out of the next game i was playing today and i had about 3 straight separate games where half of the team was using it and i could barely get a kill while doing my Kar98k challenge most of my kills were by bayonet

Dual Weild this needs to be for SMGs too
My idea: this might be to big of a change but the need too have the regular scheme of things AND 1 where you have ur scilenced pistol and ur knife out at the same time. it would bea like metal gear solid and you could only use it in multi-p. you could use it to make humaan sheilds this could also work with SMG

playing dead would be sick..i have been telling my frends this for about a year and would love it. also the monkey perk. climbing things would make the game more realistic and add more of a challenge. i would enjoy seeing this please make a good game infinity ward.

OK, this is just an opinion but…
Play Dead would simply mean that you would shoot up every prone body you came across, just to make sure they really are dead. I mean, you might get an easy kill that way so it would become standard practice. So pretty pointless I reckon.
Being able to use vehicles provides an unfair advantage and that would cause a lot of players to simply quit playing. Let’s face it, everyone hates helicopters for that reason.
Monkey does sound good though, climbing trees or buildings makes sense as long as it doesn’t mean the ability to scale a completely blank wall carrying 60lbs of gear - it needs to be realistic.
More than 1 attachment at a time, definitely. A silencer and RDS or ACOG would be dead useful.
Take out Martyrdom and Eavesdrop, the former is universally hated and the latter is never used. Replace them with some of the better perks you good folks have suggested.

I am not a fan of the “Playing Dead” idea. Think that would be extremely hard to make sure that everyone around you is dead. I do like the “Monkey” idea. I mean, it is a form of warfare to use the resources around you and getting into trees would be great. I also like the idea of supressors for sniper weapons. I also think that one other thing needs to be addressed and that is “Last Stand”. If you shoot someone with a .50 Cal pistol or sniper riffle, they need to die… END OF STORY… No one can survive a shot from a .50 cal round and it would be nice to see the arm, leg, head, whatever come flying off there body when you hit someone with it… I can understand the other sniper rifles, but a .50 cal, come on….

Also, what about the ability to carry 3 grenades and 2 claymores? I think that would be nice. Maybe slow down your ability to move a little and speed up as you discard grenades and plant claymores.

I think playing dead would be AMAZING!!! Also climbing trees would be GREAT!!! mainly because im a sniper. But Call of Duty needs to start changing things up i mean we’ve had two games in a row with almost the exact same perks and it gets really boring. So im 100% for these 2 perks and i would love to blow up some small housed with Air Strike.

I think the corner gun shud be in it cos i hate planting claymores then a enemy comes round da corner and shoots ya also they shud do a perk dat lets u see the enemies and teamates perks any time during the game cos i get annoyed wen u have 1 mor kill till a helicipter den u have maybe only a pistol and ur shooting a guy with juggernut and he turns round and shoots u however if u have dat perk u ar ready for him wit stopping power.
i dont tink aliens wud be bad i like different things i mean a lot of people didnt tink nazi zombies wud be good p.s play dead and monkey sounds great i like the feeling of people walking by and not noticing u den u pop a cap in der ass and u make dem get angry and annoyed pp.s ADD IRISHBULLDOG 09.

I honestly think that the play dead perk would be good but i have a few more suggestions:
1 I really think there should be more of a variety of weapons because i was kind of mad that there was only at most 4 or 5 weapons in each weapon type.
2 I know that there was only one allowed attachment per gun in COD 4 but maybe more than one attachment and more types of attachments (maybe a lazer) per gun would have a better appearance and give players upper hands like M4A1 + suppressor + ACOG + M203
3 I liked the choices of camo in COD 4 but once your done with all expert challenges you could make your own such as orange red and yellow camo (random)

I am wondering if when you shoot people if the body parts you shoot eg head,arms and legs etc can come off like in cod 5 world at war.

For all you who have Trouble Snipeing in Call of Duty the Trick is To Use “Camoflauge”. Also When You aim in when your snipeing and Kill the person keep the aim on so that they dont detect your spot. easy enough. just add me if you dont understand cause this tip will help. gamertag : Quickdeath902
