MW2 must have title of the year: Michael Griffith, Activision boss
Many of you wanted the CoD title on MW2. Here is a good news for all the CoD fans. Recently a confirmation had come from Activision that the brand ‘Call of Duty’ is back in the title of CoD 4 sequel, Modern Warfare 2.

Activision boss Michael Griffith announced during the quarterly earnings of Activision call last night that he expects the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 to be the “must-have title of the year.”
Giving a flash back, he said that when the original Modern Warfare was introduced two years before it set a new bar for first person action games. He also mentioned that the catalog sales for Modern Warfare continued to be strong and according to the current data, it has now sold over 13 million units globally.
Till now there has been no details leaked, but expect mags full of new information to land around E3 - where the big reveal will take place.
Meanwhile, there has been a very good response (comments) from all the readers about which weapon to keep in the game and which not in the article Gamers want more of weapons in CoD6
World at War
I just wanted to say how awesome it is that you can’t minimize to Windows while playing WaW without the game crashing. Awesome coding Treyarch, really awesome!
Keep up the great work boys.

Enough already with the “download sites” for getting patches!
I’m so sick of having to visit multiple “download sites” to get my god damn Call of Duty patches. Half of the sites try and force you to signup for an account on their crappy site in order to get the patch. I definitely notice this trend of forcing people to signup is getting worse as time goes on. With COD4 you could usually get a legit download link on your first try. Now you have to click 3, 4, 5, or more times to finally find a direct link that will allow you to download the patch without signing up for an account at the host site, which BTW will almost certainly end with spam…I mean a “newsletter” subscription.
This message is for IW, Treyarch, Activision, or whoever is in charge of this shit, CUT IT OUT. You make millions upon MILLIONS of dollars of the Call of Duty franchise, stop allowing these download sites to bully your users into signing up for an account. If nothing else, host the god damn file yourself and act professional. You can afford the bandwidth. At the very least, tell these stupid websites that if they force a signup to get the download they will be removed from the hosting list.
Below is the “mirror” sites to download the WaW 1.3 patch. Let’s see how many of them try and force a signup to get the patch, shall we?
Download Mirrors:

- Ausgamers - http://www.ausgamers.com/ - LEGIT DOWNLOAD

- PlanetCoD - http://planetcallofduty.gamespy.com/ - FORCED SIGNUP
- WorthDownloading.com - http://www.worthdownloading.com/ - Terrible navigation, once you reach the final place to download, it finally starts after like 14 seconds and the download speed is atrocious.
Remove those forced signup sites, it’s rediculouse. I just want to download the patch, I don’t want to signup for spam.
Just when I was ready to give World at War some props
>> discuss it more in the forum <<
So as many of you know I uninstalled World at War last month and never really thought twice about it until my friend called me a few days ago to tell me they released the new map pack. So against my gut feeling I went ahead and re-installed the game.
The first thing I noticed was that I had to start again, from rank 1. Why is that, exactly? Aren’t our stats stored server side? Or are they stored locally? I could have sworn they were stored server side which would beg the question why do we have to re-rank up when it’s re-installed? Shouldn’t it automatically give us our rank back when we connect to their server? Furthermore, I *SHOULD* be on my 3rd prestige but Treyarch purged a ton of accounts without explanation about a month after release, you guys remember that? Yea, I signed on one day and all of my rank/stats were POOF gone. There were like 10 gazillionbillion threads about it on the official Call of Duty forums. Treyarch, to my knowledge, never gave any explanation or apology. It would have been nice to at leats get an apology like “Hey, we had some server errors and the 75 hours of playtime you had has disappeared, you’re going to have to start again, sorry.”. No apology, no explanation. F you too, Treyarch.
So I digress, last night I played COD5 for the first time in a really long time and I must say it wasn’t bad, the new maps are pretty cool too. It seems they fixed the terrible browser issues. I didn’t notice if they fixed the bug where nades stick in the trees when you throw them, did they finally fix that bug?
Oh, they also fixed the custom maps issue, before any custom map you wanted to play on it could only download at like 12KB per second so it would take 20min+ to download a custom map. Also, unlike IW, they don’t have the browser set to automatically filter custom servers which is really cool. IW kind of shit on the custom servers and community by doing that. Granted it’s easy to tell the browser to show all servers but there are a lot of noobs out there who have no clue.
Anyhow, back to my profile trouble, last night I played up to rank 8 and went to bed, today I got on and I was rank 1 again. I assumed it was just the server I was on tonight, must have been one of those custom servers with custom ranks, right? Wrong. After playing S&D today for about 20min, up to rank 4, I wanted to change my graphic settings so I exited the game and when I re-started it I was back to rank 1 again with the settings back to how they were before I had just changed them. So now it was pretty clear that not only was it not saving my rank and stats, it’s failing to save the control and graphic settings as well.
I just really don’t know WTF is wrong with this game, how can you F up so bad? It’s just terrible coding, I really don’t know what else to say. There seem to be bugs and crashes everytime I turn around and it literally makes the game un-playable. I finally uninstalled the game again tonight for the last time, there is just no winning with World at War. I wash my hands, I am done! The IW coded Call of Duty 6 will be out in no time, until it’s out I’ll play my trusty COD4.
P.S. Hey, IW, hows about some screens already? You’re F’ing killing us here with the lack of details and info
I can’t put into words how happy I am that IW is doing Call of Duty 6. I hope Activision has learned a lesson form all of this. Call of uty 4 was an epically successful game, why they snatched the dev rights away from IW and gave them to Treyarch after such a huge hit is beyond me. Treyarch even got to use IW’s game engine and they STILL managed to F’d it up, I mean wow.

CoD4 MW weapons now for CoD5 WaW
One of the big complaints from people about WaW was the crap guns and I tend to agree. CustomCOD has released a skin pack. I assume this only changes the texture and not the actual power or performance of the weapon? I can’t test them myself because I quit/uninstalled CoD5 and went back to 4.
Here are the weapons that he converted for Nazi Zombie:
-USP .45
-Desert Eagle
-Mini-Uzi
-MP5
-P90
-AK47
-M16
-G36C
-M14
-G3
-M82A Barrett .50 cal
-Dragunov
-Frag grenade
-M4M203 (M4 with grenade launcher)
-Winchester 1200
-M1014
-M249
-RPD
-M60
-M4
-RPG-7
Also, apparently this is only for zombie mode, not sure why they made it for zombie mode only, but here is the download link: Download Nazi Zombie Modern Weapons
Call of Duty open thread for clans and players!
I figured there hasn’t been enough interaction on here so why not an open thread where people can make friends or find a clan?
Clans are almost always looking for new members, so if you’re looking to get some fresh meat in your clan post your clans information in the comments. Be sure to include important things like what platform you’re on (360, PC, PS3), your clans URL if you have one, how many members you currently have, ETC.
If you’re a player looking to join a clan, post your short resume. (skills, IM or Email, how long you have been playing, ETC)
Even if you’re just a player looking to add some new friends, post your friend ID for others to add.
Or talk about anything else you want. Also stop by the forums if you get a chance!
PS3, 360, and PC players together on Multiplayer?
Why can’t this be done? I’ve seen it discussed a few times and never really came away with a real answer. Ironically, it usually deteriorates into a flame war about who is more skilled. Which if the idea was ever implemented we would have our answer.
Usually the answer I see given is something to do with servers and requiring too much effort on everyones part. In other words Sony, or whoever pays to host the PS3 servers would have to allow PC users to eat their bandwidth and likewise for PC server owners and Microsoft’s servers.
So is that it? Sony, Microsoft, and PC server owners are too stingy to cooperate with each other? I actually have no doubt that most all PC servers would have no problem with 360/PS3 players coming on. I think the real people holding it up would probably be Sony and Microsoft, two pretty shitty companies as far as customer treatment goes, especially Sony.
I just fail to accept that something can’t be done about this. I for one have 5 different friends that play Call of Duty regularly. Two are on PC, 1 is on PS3, and 2 on 360. All I’ve ever wanted is to be able to play a game together with everyone, is that really so much to ask? We can send men to the moon but we can’t play a damn game of Call of Duty together on the same server? Bullshit.
Give Feedback on Modern Warfare 2 Via Twitter!

I’ve been advocating the power of Twitter pretty hardcore recently, especially the value in using it as a conversation tool and more importantly tracking those conversations and using the feedback contained within. That philosphy gave birth to http://twitter.infinityward.com . A Twitter web-app for tracking conversations and feedback for Modern Warfare 2 we’ve been developing behind the scenes.
The #MW2 app went live earlier today Yesterday, and within an hour has officially become the #1 most talked about topic on Twitter (just behind American Idol). I was blown away with the response to our first question, “Name one thing you’d like to see in Modern Warfare 2″ .
However, the ability to see real-time feedback and conversations about Modern Warfare 2 feeding through the app is only the beginning. The best part is the ability to vote on suggestions and rise in the ranks on the Leaderboards. Allowing us to quickly check the top rated suggestions, and reach out to the users with the best suggestions to hopefully include them in future events, beta tests, or community days.
How can you participate?
First and foremost, you can follow me on Twitter (http://www.twitter.com/fourzerotwo) and keep an eye out for the next question. It will also be visible at all times at http://twitter.infinityward.com under CURRENT QUESTION.
When a question is asked, all you have to do is tweet your answer / suggestion along with #MW2 .
What is #MW2?
#MW2 is the official Hashtag for Modern Warfare 2. Which means, anytime I,or anyone else, is talking about Modern Warfare 2 on Twitter, we’ll mark it with #MW2 so it can be tracked and included on the http://twitter.infinityward.com live feed as well as searched for on Twitter.
#MW2 Leaderboards
Once you’ve thrown your suggestion or comment about Modern Warfare 2 into the Live Feed, you can track and vote on other peoples suggestions, and track the top users on the #MW2 Leaderboard. It’s a great way to get recognized in the community and I’ll be using it to identify community members to reach out to in Call of Duty / Infinity Ward future events and projects.
Feedback on the App
This is a fairly unique social media experiment in terms of using it to solicit feedback for game design. So any comments, suggestions, or feedback on how to make the #MW2 app even better is always appreciated. I’m always looking for new ways to reach out to our players and strike up a conversation. Feel free to drop me a line at robert.bowling@fourzerotwo.com with any inquiries about the web app, or how you can help.
This October comes the challenge of Modern Warfare and Battlefield: Bad Company. Medal of Honor of Electronic Arts is being released on October 12 and it will challenge both the games for the top spot in the FPS genre.
Last week at E3 gaming event the stills and multi-player footage were released. The footage bound to bring comparison with the MW2 and BBC2.
The styles of the game is similar to the MW2 and BBC2, but MoH appears to concentrate on points and not focus on kills as MW2 does.
Below is the footage of Medal of Honor:
