20 million sales mark crossed worldwide - Modern Warfare 2
Modern Warfare 2 sales crossed 20 million copies worldwide confirmed Activision. Bobby Kotick, chief executive of Activision, told to analysts in a pre-Electronic Entertainment Expo that the forthcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops of Treyarch may get higher sales than what Modern Warfare 2 achieved before its released date, even so early.

Call of Duty: Black Ops is getting released on November 9 this year.
Kotick added further that the CoD series became more successful gradually with each title. He also added that the preorders of Black Ops are already tracking higher than the MW2’s advance sales at the same time.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was released on November 10 last year.
Activision has targeted a good and strong move in the pre-owned game market. The company believes that it is worth about $1500 million a year.
The company is finding more sense in working with the current retailers instead of opening its own used game business.
Released MW2 game case contains CoD title
Recently the game case and box art of Modern Warfare 2 was released. After its release, one thing every gamer and fan is confirmed that Infinity Ward is not going to take any risk in making it the largest selling game of the year. This is the reason that the tag of ‘Call of Duty’ is there on the box art of MW2.

May be Infinity Ward is trying not to leave any stone unturned in creating the brand of the game as its own identity. That is why it has taken the help of its existing brand, Call of Duty.
It is not sure, but report also comes that slowly the name tag of CoD will be wiped off from Modern Warfare 2.
Well! anyways, the game is going to be a big hit this year after its release in November.
The game case and the box art were released by the Community Manager of Infinity Ward Robert Bowling. He is also popularly known as FourZero Two.
Modern Warfare 2 will be prefixed with CoD
Call of Duty tag is back in Modern Warfare 2. Much news and much comments were previously flooded in media when the name of Call of Duty was deleted from this new game of the CoD series.

Reports says that the name of CoD has been again included in Modern Warfare 2 simply for brand awareness.
Destructoid’s Nick Chester shared a Google Trends chart that displayed a drop in the focus on Modern Warfare when it was dated. Meanwhile, few analysts also said that the new game of the CoD series may not be able to stand on its own two feet quite yet.
There may be another reason for this brand awareness addition. Modern Warfare 2 is the first real sequel in the long running series of Call of Duty.
Infinity Ward earlier said, “We have focused our attention on Modern Warfare in order to most effectively communicate the fact that this is the first true sequel in the Call of Duty series.”
Let it be Modern Warfare 2 only or let it be prefixed by Call of Duty, the game is surely going to sell like hotcakes.
Modern Warfare 2 will not have monthly fee
Recently all the gaming media was flooded with the news that in future all the Call of Duty games may charge a monthly fee. This news was not based on any official announcement from the developer, Infinity Ward. But, this news was a shock to all the fans of Call of Duty.

After the news Infinity Ward assured all the fans that there is no such plans from the house of the developer. They are not planning for any such subscription service to any of the series of Call of Duty and not even for the Modern Warfare 2.
Below given is the official message from Infinity Ward that was released through their official forum regarding this rumor of subscription for their any CoD series:
“This rumor has absolutely nothing to do with Infinity Ward or our games, including Modern Warfare 2. We would never introduce such a system for Modern Warfare 2 so don’t worry.
Multiplayer will always be equal and free for everyone as always.”
Modern Warfare 2 has its own identity
The industry analysts and Activision has become confident about Modern Warfare 2. They have already predicted recently that this sequence will become the largest selling game in 2009. Now the also comes through sources that Activision is now going to pull out all of the stops in promoting the release of Modern Warfare 2.

It is learned that the entire promotion campaign is still in the final planning stages. Activision has plans to start aggressive marketing from August. The main reason to this is to get pre-order of the title before November 10. It has been also learned that many rewards and incentives will be offered to get gamers to plunk down their deposit for the game.
Modern Warfare 1 sold over 13 million units on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. For the second sequence it is being believed that it will be in fact sold based on the name alone.
One thing is to be noted that though there were too many voices coming from gamers as to why the name of CoD has been withdrawn from MW2. But now it seems that Modern Warfare 2 has also made its own identity.
CoD sales reaches 2 million
With a much hype of the CoD6 these days as the launching date is coming closer, the developer of it is every time in news. This time it is also in news for their existing Call of Duty series. The official website of CoD says that just after the release of Call of Duty: World at War DLC, Map Pack 2 – the first Map Pack 1 has reached to 2 million milestone. Isn’t that great?

The official website also announces that Call of Duty: World at War has surpassed the 11 million units sold from the launch of its first in November last year.
An official statement has been issued giving a thank note to all who purchased CoD: WaW. It reads as below:
These outstanding feats would have never been possible without the continued dedication and support from all of the loyal Call of Duty fans. For that, we at Treyarch and Activision would like to extend our sincerest Thank You. We’re honored and humbled to have one of the greatest online communities in video game history behind our products!
For Treyarch we can say that it is a sure achievement. For Activision we can say that Call of Duty Franchise is one of their biggest franchises ever in.
Recently there was also a statement by the analyst firm Janco Partner. Mike Hickey of Janco Partner said, “We believe Modern Warfare 2 will likely be the largest video game release for [calendar year] 2009. For the Company’s fiscal Q409 period (Dec. ending), we anticipate the sell through to consumers of 11.1 million units for an estimated retail value of $803 million and sell-in approximating 12.4 million units, for an approximated sales value of $666 million (we assume demand is 90% of supply).”
MW2 will be a big hit as the other CoD series
It is an open fact that the biggest title in 2007 as well as in 2008 were Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: World at War respectively. This is also evident because till today both the games are played too much, especially the 2007 hit CoD4: Modern Warfare.

It is also expected same or even more from the Modern Warfare 2 that is going to be unveiled on November 10 this year. The CEO of Activision Publishing earlier said to the media that they are expecting this much awaited series of the Call of Duty to be a big hit and in fact the biggest title in the videogame industry.
He also said that when the original MW was launched in the year 2007 then it had a substantial jump in consumers engaged in the CoD franchise. He explains further that Modern Warfare 2 will be having a ready purchasers.
He adds, “We also look at Modern Warfare 2 and where it’s strongest on the next-gen platforms of PS3 and Xbox 360. The installed base from the first Modern Warfare to the second one will be nearly double.”
Infinity Ward wanted to make CoD6 look like action movie

Call of Duty has always been known for its slight tweak’s to realism. We all know this. At least it for those gamers who have played the previous games. It says about a heroic journey of a soldier. Modern Warfare was a bit different than the other Call of Duty games. It took this slight tweak and developed it in a huge way by creating one of the best games that any console has ever seen in past few years in the gaming industry on the global platform.
The Modern Warfare is back now with the recent hits such as Killzone 2. Vince Zampella from Infinity Wart lately told to the media, the official magazine of PlayStation that they are going for authenticity and not realism. He said that they are not making a sim, but they are making entertainment. According to him, they want it to look real like that of an action movie.
Zampella also mentioned that they are well aware of the fact that that action movies look good, but they are many times way off from the true thing.
He said that Modern Warefare 2 will be looking to do the same thing. He also said that there is not any mandate that every level has to be a wide open sandbox.
