In LA just over 100 media persons around the world were invited couple of days before by Infinity Ward and Activision to get a sneak peek of Modern Warfare 2.

Here is the thought of Lee Zaleski of The Sun newspaper that was published on their website yesterday.

LZ writes after playing the three maps of the game i.e. Favela, High-rise and Afghan that the game is better than what everybody expected.

He said that the Favela is a shanty town in Brazil having lush green bushes and clear blue sky. The Favela map has alleyways and rooftops that are perfect for close combat ambushes.

About High-rise LZ writes that it is set at dusk. It takes place on top of a skyscraper and it also has a heli pad in the middle. He says that High-rise is extremely fast paced because the teams fight each other from left to right.

According to him the Afghan map is topically set in the Afghanistan desert. It has smoking plane wreck and also some caves in the hills to run amok in. Afghan is a large map and it is perfect for any weapon.

LZ shares that they played two game modes namely Capture the Flag and Demolitions.

About the Demolitions he informs that it is to some extent like Search and Destroy from previous titles. It has two bomb sites and not one.

Infinity Ward unveils new footage

Here is one more footage and that too uncut one. It was unveiled by the Infinity Ward.

From this new video it seems that the players are attempting to deliver flag to the enemy base. The knife throwing is also seen a handy one in this footage.

At the end of the footage “Host Migration” feature is seen. It is one of the positive features of the game which automatically connects to a new host so that gamers do not require to shut down the match and boot back to get to the main lobby of the game.

It was twittered recently by the community manager of Infinity Ward, Robert Bowling that akimbo pistols would feature in Modern Warfare 2. While giving a presentation on the game Bowling announced this great news.

He said, “Just walked off stage. Crowd was amazing, went insane chanting ‘pick it up!’ when I stumbled over dual-wield Deagles. lol - Akimbo confirmed.”

Through the official forum Bowling said, “Now to calm some initial fears of ‘OMG! Overpowered!’. Akimbo is limited and balanced, just like everything in the game. It’s limited to side-arms, harder to aim than standard and you can’t go ADS (aim down sights) since you have a weapon in each hand.”

Bowling even mentioned giving a direction to all the fans of the game that don’t freak out before seeing it in action.

Well, no where on the forum did he mentioned when the fans will get a chance to see it in action.

Infinity Ward compromises on lower resolution

Posted by herald On July - 29 - 2009

It is repeated once again as it was the case of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Modern Warfare 2 will not be rendered on 720p or 1080p. Hope there may be valid reason from the developer Infinity Ward to choose lower resolution. Let us assume good reasons.

It has been announced that Modern Warfare 2 will be supporting 600p resolution which is equivalent to 1024 x 600 pixels. We can also say that Infinity Ward has made the compromise of lower resolution. Well, lower resolution favors a higher frame rate and more detail.

In fact Modern Warfare 2 actually runs in the relatively low resolution of 1024 x 600. Anyway, console will in fact upscale this to whatever display resolution gamers choose. PC users will be able to render the game at decent resolutions.

Well, put your comments whether this compromise of Invinity Ward is actually based on technology benefit.

Modern Warfare 2 will be prefixed with CoD

Posted by herald On July - 11 - 2009

Call of Duty tag is back in Modern Warfare 2. Much news and much comments were previously flooded in media when the name of Call of Duty was deleted from this new game of the CoD series.

Reports says that the name of CoD has been again included in Modern Warfare 2 simply for brand awareness.

Destructoid’s Nick Chester shared a Google Trends chart that displayed a drop in the focus on Modern Warfare when it was dated. Meanwhile, few analysts also said that the new game of the CoD series may not be able to stand on its own two feet quite yet.

There may be another reason for this brand awareness addition. Modern Warfare 2 is the first real sequel in the long running series of Call of Duty.

Infinity Ward earlier said, “We have focused our attention on Modern Warfare in order to most effectively communicate the fact that this is the first true sequel in the Call of Duty series.”

Let it be Modern Warfare 2 only or let it be prefixed by Call of Duty, the game is surely going to sell like hotcakes.

“Co-op” has a different meaning for Infinity Ward

Posted by herald On July - 7 - 2009

We all know that the meaning of “co-op” in the gaming industry is two players. But with Modern Warfare 2 it is a different story. For them the terminology is different.

call_of_duty_modern_warfare_2_

For the developer of MW2 the two players is the sweet spot for cooperative-based gameplay. In a recent interview, Robert Bowling, the director of communications of the studio said that in the concept of “co-op” between last year’s Call of Duty: World at War and this years Modern Warfare 2, there will be a definite change.

Bowling further added that they can participate in 4-player campaign co-op, but the new sequel will not be featuring a campaign “co-op” mode. He further said that there is something new as a whole i.e. a two-player, specially designed Special Ops mode. Not forgetting to mention, the game is “designed to be replayed over and over again.”

Let me quote Robert Bowling: “Two player seemed to be the magic number for co-op. That’s when it stayed really fun and intense without becoming a clusterf**k of things. We just found that two-players was the most fun.”

Modern Warfare 2 will not have monthly fee

Posted by herald On July - 6 - 2009

Recently all the gaming media was flooded with the news that in future all the Call of Duty games may charge a monthly fee. This news was not based on any official announcement from the developer, Infinity Ward. But, this news was a shock to all the fans of Call of Duty.

infinity-ward-logo

After the news Infinity Ward assured all the fans that there is no such plans from the house of the developer. They are not planning for any such subscription service to any of the series of Call of Duty and not even for the Modern Warfare 2.

Below given is the official message from Infinity Ward that was released through their official forum regarding this rumor of subscription for their any CoD series:

“This rumor has absolutely nothing to do with Infinity Ward or our games, including Modern Warfare 2. We would never introduce such a system for Modern Warfare 2 so don’t worry.

Multiplayer will always be equal and free for everyone as always.”

This October comes the challenge of Modern Warfare and Battlefield: Bad Company. Medal of Honor of Electronic Arts is being released on October 12 and it will challenge both the games for the top spot in the FPS genre.

Last week at E3 gaming event the stills and multi-player footage were released. The footage bound to bring comparison with the MW2 and BBC2.

The styles of the game is similar to the MW2 and BBC2, but MoH appears to concentrate on points and not focus on kills as MW2 does.

Below is the footage of Medal of Honor:
