Valve unbans MW2 on its platform, gives free Left 4 Dead 2
Twelve thousand gamers were banned by accident from playing Modern Warfare 2 via the anti-cheat system. This was done by Valve through its online gaming platform. Steam determined that many gamers were cheating the company. However, after investigation there were no evidence found of such activities.

Now, the company has lifted the ban and has also apologized for the mix up.
Valve is an online gaming platform which has many other war games for gamers apart from Modern Warfare 2.
Valve head honcho, Gabe Newell, explained the issue in his apology. He said, “The problem was that Steam would fail a signature check between the disk version of a DLL and a latent memory version.
This was caused by a combination of conditions occurring while Steam was updating the disk image of a game. This wasn’t a game-specific mistake. Steam allows us to manage and reverse these erroneous bans (about 12,000 erroneous bans over two weeks.”
To make up the mistake, the company is handing out Left 4 Dead 2 for free to all those MW2 gamers whe were inadvertently banned.
Well, it is still bad for those gamers who own Modern Warfare 2 as well as Left 4 Dead 2.
Short review of MW2 Resurgence Pack
It has been over a month the Resurgence Pack of Modern Warfare 2 has been out in the market, but gamers are still wondering whether to buy it or not. This small review will help those gamers, who are confused, to make up their minds wheter to go ahead and buy it or not.

Vacant & Strike:
Vacant and Strike are basically the re-makes of Call of Duty 4. Both have been improved with lighting effects, morning sun in Vacant and beaming light in Strike. Moreover, amount of objects in Strike have been multiplied such as litter, chunks of concrete etc.
In Vacant the grassy areas have been improved. Flowers growing from the ground is also seen in it.
Fuel
This map is packed with big, white oil tanks also destroyed lorries and cars and most of them are on fire. It is little complicated map. So, gamers really need to concentrate on it.
Trailer Park
This map has twists and turns everywhere and it requires a team work to win. It is most defiantly a confusing map, but it is great to keep players thinking on every turn they make.
Carnival
It is exactly a carnival, which has everything such as merry-go-rounds, roller-coaster track etc. It is a detailed map and is pretty simple. It is in fact a long vertical line with number of obstacles. The colors, the rides, graffiti and everything in this map is adorable.

Black Ops pre-orders croses pre-orders of Modern Warfare 2
Prior to release, Modern Warfare 2 was pre-ordered over 150 units per minute. This stat is claimed by many online retailers.
The latest news about Call of Duty: Black Ops is also of same type. According to Treyarch, Activision’s CoD: Black Ops is beating MW2 in regards of pre-orders.
An analyst from Pacific Crest Securities, Evan Wilson, confirmed the news in terms of pre-order Call of Duty: Black Ops is beating MW2.
Earlier it was estimated that Black Ops sales may reach 10 million, but now the estimates goes a bit high to 12 million units. This is what analyst predicts.
Wilson also says that it is better if CoD: Black Ops does well in pre-orders because it won’t do much after its release in sales. He has a reason behind it. He says it is due to “Competition, weaker marketing, and the Infinity Ward situation.”
Well, one thing is sure Wilson mentions that Black Ops would surely beat the largest entertainment launch in the history of gaming industry.
Let’s wait and watch till November 9th.
Is Medal of Honor a threat to MW2 and BBC2
This October comes the challenge of Modern Warfare and Battlefield: Bad Company. Medal of Honor of Electronic Arts is being released on October 12 and it will challenge both the games for the top spot in the FPS genre.
Last week at E3 gaming event the stills and multi-player footage were released. The footage bound to bring comparison with the MW2 and BBC2.
The styles of the game is similar to the MW2 and BBC2, but MoH appears to concentrate on points and not focus on kills as MW2 does.
Below is the footage of Medal of Honor:
20 million sales mark crossed worldwide - Modern Warfare 2
Modern Warfare 2 sales crossed 20 million copies worldwide confirmed Activision. Bobby Kotick, chief executive of Activision, told to analysts in a pre-Electronic Entertainment Expo that the forthcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops of Treyarch may get higher sales than what Modern Warfare 2 achieved before its released date, even so early.

Call of Duty: Black Ops is getting released on November 9 this year.
Kotick added further that the CoD series became more successful gradually with each title. He also added that the preorders of Black Ops are already tracking higher than the MW2’s advance sales at the same time.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was released on November 10 last year.
Activision has targeted a good and strong move in the pre-owned game market. The company believes that it is worth about $1500 million a year.
The company is finding more sense in working with the current retailers instead of opening its own used game business.
Modern Warfare 2 may come in 3D
We may see Modern Warfare 2 in 3D very soon. This was hinted through a second video. It is just like the first video and the viral ad happens to be in a lab where a gamer seen acting the guinea pig and an evil Sony scientists, presumably, test out the 3D gaming on them. Little later it is seen that the guy is unable to take the realness and so he freaks out.
The freak out of the guy includes a quick flash of the TV which shows the menu of the game in 3D.
Still we have to wait for the official announcement from Sony whether MW2 is coming on PlayStation as 3D.

Activision plans MW2 market expansion
We know that this year there will be a launch of new full length Call of Duty: Black Ops videogame. It will be released on November 6, but before that we are going to enjoy the new map pack of the biggest selling Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 of last 2009.

It seems that Activision is having some more new plans that is linked to the successful franchise.
Activision CEO Bobby Kotick told to the investors after the first quarter results announcement of the company, “There’s a soldier in all of us.” He added that the company is always trying to enter growing gaming markets across the world. He said, “The popular global fantasy of being a soldier is allowing us to enter new geographies, leveraging… expertise… creating content for audiences that to date have only been satisfied by Blizzard games. Soon we’ll announce our plans for both China and Korea.”
He also added this new content is planned for MW2 as well as for the Black Ops.
Kotick added further that until now over 17 million map packs of the entire series have been sold and this is more than what the other franchises even sell in their entire launch history.
Well, MMO titles dominate the Korean and Chinese gaming markets and the World of Warcraft has a strong presence there.
Second map pack for MW2 soon, Again cash-grab for Activision
We all know that the “Stimulus” Map pack of Modern Warfare 2 is already picking up too much of controversies. So, logically we knew that Infinity Ward would go ahead and doing it all over again.

Yes, they are doing.
At the Q1 2010 report calls, Activision speaks of releasing a second map pack soon. Though it is still unnamed, but it is learned that late this year the map pack will be released.
This is really a good news for all those gamers who enjoyed the first one because one may expect the second map pack to be more good.
Well, this is the one side of the game. The other end says it is not surprising to see Activision moving ahead for another cash-grab.
However, the pricing details have not been spoken by the publisher. The kind of content is also not known. Moreover, no official dates been announced.
The first DLC was sold for $14.99. It was titled as Stimulus Package and was sold on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
MW2 the best launch day in terms of USD
A world record has been set. Yes, a world record by Modern Warfare 2 for the best launch day if it can be seen in terms of U.S. dollars.

Guinness World Records announced recently that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 grossed $401.6 million on the day of its launched last year on November 10. It even shattered the $310 million revenue record of Grand Theft Auto IV’s which was launched in 2008.
The third highest in entertainment of all time is Halo 3. On its first day it tallied $170 million.
Gaz Deaves, Guinness World Records Gamer’s Edition Editor said in a statement that the “Video game releases such as the Call of Duty series have outperformed the launches of major Hollywood blockbusters for several years and the day-one sales for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 proved once again that video games have become cultural events in their own right.”
Well, it is to be noted that games launch at about $60 per unit where as movies are cheaper than it. Moreover, games easily take the top spot than a film.
